Eric Phillips
Director
Mr. Eric Phillips is a lifelong Tallassee resident and dedicated community member. Phillips is a 1988 Tallassee High graduate and has a degree in Business Administration from Troy University in 2002. In his new role as the director of Parks & Recreation, the focus is on enhancing the quality of life for Tallassee citizens. He envisions achieving this goal by providing a diverse array of recreational, social and educational opportunities in a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Mr. Phillips served on the board of directors for Tallassee Dixie Youth Baseball for nine years, four of which were spent as commissioner, showcasing leadership and a deep commitment to the development of youth in sports. Additionally, he contributed his expertise to the Tallassee Athletic Club’s board of directors.
Andrea Thornton
Office Manager
Andrea graduated from Tallassee High in 2011 and Tallassee been a forever hometown for her. As the office manager, Andrea hopes to assist in growing the Recreation center and making an impact on the community. Andrea and her husband, Hunter, have two sons Jacen and Lukas. She enjoys watching her two boys play sports and spending time together with her family and pets in her free time.
Jamelle R Jelks
Evening Manager
Supervises Rec Center youth and adult activities during the evenings. He has served with the City of Tallassee as Recreation Evening Staff since 1991. Jamelle is married to Pastor Jennifer Stewart Jelks, and they have two children; Reshawna, who is a teacher in Maryland and Avalia, who also resides in Maryland.
