Eric Phillips
Director

Mr. Eric Phillips is a lifelong Tallassee resident and dedicated community member. Phillips is a 1988 Tallassee High graduate and has a degree in Business Administration from Troy University in 2002. In his new role as the director of Parks & Recreation, the focus is on enhancing the quality of life for Tallassee citizens. He envisions achieving this goal by providing a diverse array of recreational, social and educational opportunities in a safe, clean and welcoming environment. Mr. Phillips served on the board of directors for Tallassee Dixie Youth Baseball for nine years, four of which were spent as commissioner, showcasing leadership and a deep commitment to the development of youth in sports. Additionally, he contributed his expertise to the Tallassee Athletic Club’s board of directors.

Andrea Thornton

Office Manager

As the office manager, Andrea hopes to assist in growing the Recreation center and making an impact on the community. Andrea assists with sports and team registrations, reservations, scheduling, staffing, onboarding and recruits, donations and seasonal community events within the Rec Department. Andrea specializes in insurances billing. Andrea also loves to work with children on the fields during game seasons. Andrea coaches and instructs our seasonal Happy Feet clinic. Andrea is American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certified (CPR/AED), Coach Safely Certified, MOS Certified, CPAR certified & CPHRM Certified.

Lori Lamb

Evening Associate

Greets guests and assists with memberships, reservations and registrations. Lori is married to Brandon Taff and she plans to start a family and spread positivity to the community and our recreational programs.

Jamelle R Jelks

Coach & Program Instructional Specialist

Supervises Rec Center youth and adult activities. He has served with the City of Tallassee as Recreation Evening Staff since 1991. Jamelle is CPR/AED certified and Coach Safely Certified as well as certified as a SilverSneakers Fitness Instructor. He leads instructional group exercise classes for our adult members twice daily each week, and on Saturday mornings. Jamelle is married to Pastor Jennifer Stewart Jelks, and they have two children; Reshawna, who is an assistant Principal in Maryland and Avalia, who also resides in Maryland.

Wayne “Bubba” Casaday

Former Parks & Facilities Maintenance (10+ yrs)

Wayne, affectionately known as “Bubba” recently retired from the Parks and Recreation Department. Wayne served nearly 11 years with our department and was a dedicated worker, friend, and colleague.
